Lymphatic Drainage

Choose at Least One;More is Better

Moving the lymphatic system to ensure proper drainage and detox elimination is incredibly important during healing.

Minimum for lymph movement is 1xweek. More is better.

There are many options to keep the lymph moving such as outside therapies, lymphatic drainage (especially good if you can find a therapist who uses LymphStar!) or any type of massage; inside therapies such as rebounding (small or large trampoline), manual lymph movement (lots of videos on youtube!), vibration plate, jump roping, dry brushing, hot/cold shower therapy, and movement in general such as walking, running, lifting weights and any cardio.

Vibration Plates

If choosing a vibration plate for your lymphatic drainage, always remember to start low and slow until you know how our body will respond.

With our lymphatic system being part of our waste removal system, too much too fast can cause a detox reaction. Even if you feel great while doing it, you may not feel so great tomorrow.

To begin, sit in a chair and place your feet on the platform for 5-10 minutes the first time working your way up in time.

Next, you will stand on the platform and do the same, just 5-10 minutes, working your way up. If you find you handle it well, go right ahead and do as you like. Squeezing muscles during the process has an even greater effect.

Workouts and more can be performed on good quality vibration plates!

Dry Brushing

Begin at feet and work your way up to hips, then hands working your way to shoulders, start in center of back and brush towards your front, spine to belly button on left side and right side, then brush down from sternum to pelvic bone and finishing with your face down to your heart. This should take a total of 4-8 minutes. Do this prior to any shower, soak, or sauna session.

In the event you did not dry brush, you can alternatively change the shower water to cold at the end of your shower to trigger the lymph system before you get out and you can also dry yourself off in the same pattern as you would dry brushing. Short strokes, toward the heart, except sternum to pelvis, downward.

Castor Oil Packs

Use organic cotton or wool only and nothing with dyes! You can purchase wool or cotton packs or use white t-shirts, alternatively.

  • Cut them into required sizes, place on wrap and pour organic castor oil over the pack until it is mostly saturated.
  • Lay an old towel down where you will be laying for the next 40 minutes.
  • Place the pack with wrap over the liver (right front/backside of body under rib cage), wrap with a castor oil pack wrap to keep things dry and clean (castor oil stains badly!)
  • Apply heating pad or hot water bottle over the pack wrap/towel.
  • Rest and keep on for at least 40 minutes or up to overnight, if you’d rather do it in bed.
  • Place the pack back into the glass bowl or jar, cover and store in dark place.

You can use the same pack up to 20 times before throwing away. I suggest using The Heritage Store brand, The Palma Christi Organic Castor Oil in dark glass bottle. Cold and First Pressed, Hexane-free.
